ChÂteau Couronneau

In 1994, Bénédicte et Christophe Piat acquired this very old wine estate in the Bordeaux region which dates back to the 15th century. Located at the highest point of the department at 180m altitude, on steep slopes with clay-limestone soils, the vineyard extends over 35 hectares. The domaine primarily grows Merlot and lower volumes of Sauvignon Gris and Sauvignon Blanc. Its wines are cultivated according to organic and biodynamic guidelines and the Bordeaux Supérieur cuvées are certified by Ecocert and Demeter.The meticulous work in the vineyard –trellising the grapes for optimum photosynthesis, desuckering in the head of the vine, manual leaf removal and green harvesting – shows the domaine’s commitment to excellence. Those efforts are regularly awarded at international competitions.
