Founded in 1910 by Gottfried Sebastian, this family estate is located in Dernau in the Ahr Valley. The sisters Andrea Bertram and Ricarda Sebastian have been running the estate since 1998, until Julia Bertram joined the family in 2014, who has been mainly responsible for the vinification since then. With a bachelor’s degree in oenology, she was able to gain know-how at the prestigious Meyer Näkel estate in 2009 before becoming the “German Wine Queen” in 2013 and taking up her role as an ambassador for German wine. Bordering the banks of the Ahr, the 3.5 ha vineyard is planted almost exclusively (95%) to Pinot Noir. The steep slopes require manual work. The wines produced by Julia reflect the terroir perfectly. Among her great cuvées are the two Pinot Noir-based Mönchberg and Trotzenberg.
